News and Current Affairs Reporter
Capital FM is looking for two suitably qualified News and Current Affairs Reporter to join our Lilongwe Branch News and Current Affairs team.The Job Requires:
- Identifying, researching and verifying news stories and presenting them on air to our Audience
- Generating ideas for stories from trending issues from the Public, social media, press releases and various leads from other sources
- Reporting live from events as they unfold, conducting radio interviews (both on-the-spot and pre-arranged) and recording and editing material to create news and current affairs sound bites.
- Producing longer features or radio documentaries
- Maintaining and building rapport with our Audience
- Carrying out any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
- Should have not less than two years experience working in a busy Newsroom
- Have good interviewing, listening and writing skills
- Speak excellent English and be able to articulate themselves well
- Be passionate and conversant about trending technical, political, social and economic issues in Malawi and globally
- Be highly conversant with social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook and Adobe production software
- Be hardworking and able to work with minimum supervision
- Have a minimum of a Diploma in Journalism, Mass Communication or any media related field.Those with a qualification in financial journalism will have an added advantage.
